CMTS and UBR's

What is CMTS?
The CMTS ( Cable Modem Termination System ) is a set of devices at your Head-End connecting your cable modem to you ISP (Internet Service Provider) allowing IP packets to be sent and recieved. It connects all the cable modems in one particular area together, it can communicate upstream and downstream with your cable modem and allows cable modems to communicate with each other.

What is a UBR?
UBR is short for Universal Broadband Router. It is the central control device at a hub site ( part of your Head-End ) for a group of Cable Modems on the cable network segment.
