Security

When using a broadband connection such as a cable modem it is very important that you have tight security!

Having a cable connection means that you are most likely to leave your computer switched on and since your cable connection is 'always on' it allows easier access for hackers to trace and attempt to break into your system.

So how can I stop this?

All you need to do is download or buy a Firewall. In simple terms you can think of a firewall as a 'ring of fire' around your computer. A firewall stops and reports any attempts to break into your system thus stopping a hacker from gaining access to your system.

Where can I get a firewall from?

There is a number of firewall software available. Most you have to purchase, or are shareware. Though there are a few freeware firewalls that can do the job perfectly if you are just a simple home user. It's suggested that you download ZoneAlarm, it is a free firewall from ZoneLabs.

You can download Zonealarm v2.6 here
